6 catering tips for your next corporate event

Food brings people together, not just for friends and family gatherings, but for corporate business events too. Corporate catering is an excellent way to show appreciation for your employees and fellow colleagues, as well as being a great addition to any client meeting or seminar.

Successful corporate events are not just about the event itself, it’s also about the food and drinks, customer service and the dining experience you deliver. The caterer that you choose will have a profound impact on the successful running of your event. The food should be well-presented and highly flavoursome, seasoned with love and passion. Don’t settle for medi-okra.

6 catering tips for a successful corporate event

Feeling nervous about an upcoming event? Not sure what food to serve, or how much to order? Here are 6 easy tips to follow when planning the catering for your corporate event or business lunch:

1.

Head count

As with any event, you need to know how many people are expected to attend. The number of guests is perhaps the most critical thing to consider – you don’t want anyone going hungry. Get the numbers well in advance so you can inform the caterers on just how much food they need to prepare.

2.

Dietary requirements

The last thing you want at your event is to cause an allergic reaction from the food you choose to serve. It’s crucial that you check and ask about food allergies and intolerances as well as dietary requirements with everyone attending. That way, you’ll be sure to provide guests with peace of mind that there’ll be something at the event for everyone.

3.

Location, location, location

Before planning the food, decoration and theme of your corporate event, you need to know where your venue is. Ask yourself things like; indoor or outdoor? Is there access to electricity? Do you need seating and if so how much? This all comes into play when choosing a venue. Once you know the logistics of where you’re hosting, you’ll be able to find a catering company that matches the style you require.

4.

Theme

Relaxed, formal…or even fancy dress. There are all sorts of themes and styles to choose for a corporate event. A team annual awards party with colleagues is going to have a different tone and mood compared to a board meeting with important stakeholders, so you need to choose a theme that fits right in. This will then likely have an effect on the catering you choose too.

5.

What’s on the menu?

Now for the best bit of any event…the actual food. With any event, it’s often this choice that makes it special and memorable. Guests leave praising the day, wanting to come back for more! Most caterers will offer a range of cuisines to choose from so you can pick and choose your favourites in line with the preferences of the attendees.

6.

Trust your caterer

Without trust between you, the host, and your caterer, you’ll find it difficult to focus on other aspects of your corporate event. With so much that goes into planning an event, the food and preparation of it should be one less thing to worry about if you’ve chosen a caterer you can rely on.
